The Exmoor Coast
The A39 through Porlock Village
We continue onwards with few clues as to what is to come, until we reach the edge of Porlock. Here, the road forks. The left hand branch is one way down hill and takes the A39 down to Porlock. The right hand road carries eastbound traffic. The middle picture shows why this section is one way - the road is barely wide enough for a car in places. The right hand picture shows the other end of the one-way section.
We continue into Porlock, passing between stone walls on narrow streets. The main street has various touristy type shops, as well as a few pubs and restaurants. One of the hostelries is the Lorna Doone Hotel, which has a prime site on the main street.
